Jorge Holliday

FMCS: Hey Jorge How’s things, tell us a little bit about your background and how you got into music production?
Jorge: Everything is lovely. The science is great. I’m from VA Beach, VA. I’ve been producing music for 7 years now. Started using Fruity Loops 2 and a midi keyboard. Started sampling when I was 18 years young. Just started synthesizing with samples not too long ago. To be honest, The Neptunes got me into music production. “Grinding” started it off.
FMCS: How did travelling as a kid (in Europe with family) affect your outlook in your music?
Jorge: It provided me with a positive aspect. I experienced different cultures with different music. I’m really lucky to have that brought to me.

FMCS: Tell us a little bit about JORGE HOLLIDAY and the GLEE Club, What do they represent and in which direction are you taking them?
Jorge: Well, I’m executive producer for the Glee Club. We represent good music for the good people who have good spirits! The direction i’m taking them is beyond music. Right now we are in the talks of having “Hybrid Love” featured in a film by Mr.Richards in Australia.
FMCS: Describe the GLEE Club sound and style of music?
Jorge: The sound is very distinct. We do not imitate anyone in the industry. Everyone has their own style and personailty. I think that if the industry and indie heads would listen to our music, then they will know the real deal about us.

FMCS: You have been responsible for producing a lot of great tracks for Marcus Mcfly (Hybrid love, The Call, Put Your Hands Up). Are you looking for other vocalists and emcees to work with, and is this where production under Xyience Theory will come into action?
Jorge: As of now, I’m not really pressed on looking for vocalist or emcees to work with. I will never reject any artist at all. I’m willing to work with you no matter what the situation is. The Xyience Theory will come into action Fall 2007. Right now, I’m just setting up the scenario and theme for the production label.

FMCS: You’re currently based in Virginia Beach, VA, how does that area suit you for creative flow? Do you find the area positive and inspiring?
Jorge: The area is great. It really differs from the Richmond area. Neptunes and other great producers influenced me a lot as VA natives. But I just want to stand out a little bit more.

FMCS: Influences and inspirations?
Jorge: Madlib… He’s a major treat to all mainstream producers. J Dilla is also a treat to the industry (RIP). Black Milk, pure sickness. The Neptunes are pretty much responsible. Prince, hands down the best by far. Quincy Jones, every producer favorite. RJD2 takes things to a whole different level.

FMCS: What can we expect from you in 2007?
Jorge: Production album is in the works. Working with The Glee Club fellow artist. Rebel Muzick Ent artist as well. There are a few shows coming this summer. Hopefully travel overseas to expand my horizons with my music production.
FMCS: Do you play out? Where can we catch Jorge Holliday and the GLEE Club crew live?
Jorge: No, I personally don’t perform. Not an MC here haha! We are actually trying to get a couple of shows in. But you can always visit the glee club website or the Glee MySpace. and see tour dates that are coming soon.

FMCS: Shout outs and respect?
Jorge: First and foremost God.
