FMCS: Hey Andrey hows things?

Hello, there! I’m great, just got back from holidays and going back to Moscow, that’s the place where I live and work now. I’m glad I’m there!

FMCS: Good can you tell us what you are currently working on?

I am working on the new Digital Abstracts It is my online community for young designers and contains interviews, reviews, news and more.
I’m trying to help them out as much as I can. I have also been to many design conferences around the world. Also, taking up my time at the moment is a lot of the commercial work I am doing. I launched a small studio in Moscow recently and we are doing mostly flash sites and photography for pop artists. The goal is to establish the same thing for western countries.

FMCS: How and why did you get into the online/offline design field?

It was long time ago… Even when I was in school, I started to draw and use my crappy camera. Now I mostly manage projects and do the things I like to do, like photography, styling. Oh! and yes, my parents were telling me that I still need to study and do something else, apart from design.

FMCS: You are based in Riga, Latvia do you work on an international level?

Yes, defiantly on international stuff. I do some work in the United States and United Kingdom. But my main works are for Moscow based clients. As I already mentioned before, the goal is to move more to Europe or US in the near future.

FMCS: We know you used to be located in Latvia. Do you do much work for Latvian companies?

Hell no! I spent tears doing that, now just only maybe one project a month. The work there is boring and I’m glad a quit doing that.

FMCS: How do you find the design outlook in Latvia?

There is no design outlook in Latvia. Yeh! There are a lot of talented people, but that’s all because of clients and business there.

FMCS: And Russia seems to be a hotbed for new design talent and new design styles do you agree?

It’s really hard today honestly. But I guess yes, I will agree… That’s just a question of time I think.

FMCS: Creatively who else do you rate at the moment? Who should we keep our eye open for in the future?

Of course, me!

FMCS: Can you give us some links to your previous work?

Sure, no problem. Some of my last photography examples are on Sensegraphy and also the motion graphic work. And yeah, a lot of commercial stuff that I’m not proud of! Also some of my art were published in the latest Computer Arts magazines.
