Microsoft’s rival to the Ipod is due for release Zune is the name of the project, the brand, and the device.

And the anticipated ‘launch’ of the first Zune device is scheduled for this month.

The Zune will encapsulate Wi-Fi and be hard drive based. Music will be used to market and launch the device and in the near future connectivity between devices and community will be the big push.

We like it, its different, it’s a competitor and competition is good for the market place. Regardless of the weight, or prevailing dominance of that competitor.

Let’s not have anybody resting on their fat behinds for too long. Chop chop Apple!

HITplayer is software that is independent of terminal devices and user interfaces. The software can be downloaded to the mobile phones by their users. This is new player is capable of turning any older phone with a colour screen and a memory card into a media vessel.

The HITplayer software operates in mobile devices as a jukebox-like unit, which plays music content, or it can alternatively be used for watching videos. The 64 MB memory card can store as many as 60 high-quality musical compositions, for example, or 10 real music videos. We believe that, in the near future, almost every mobile device will incorporate the HITplayer software.

For those of you that are wanting to understand more about where the mobile sphere is taking us then you must check out receiver magazine from Vodafone. Ignoring the fact they just bailed outta Japan because of fierce competition from I-Mode and KDDI.

This rather sparky free online mag features articles from key people within the mobile revolutions industry and don’t jump to assumptions these people are not corporate suits telling you what handset you should purchase but artists, philosophers, technologists and researchers (you know nice people)!

The articles make for great reading expecially James Ktaz: The future of a futuristic device. And Sara Price and Yvonne Rogers: Designing new learning experiences with pervasive technologies.

There is also a gallery section this issue features Freerun - the runners at urbanfreeflow.com By Henry Reichhold

Worth a look. Receiver

Mobile phones are getting smaller and smaller and smaller until one day they will just be pin head sized brain implants.

Now look here, even on Star Trek they had hand sized communications units. I mean how small does your phone have to be? Are they bought in direct proportion to dick size? If so how big is Spock’s cock? And if that’s a Bluetooth Uhura has in her ear what does that imply for intergalatic penis envy?

What’s more mobiles are bloody ugly (just like cocks)…so go to “hulger” and buy yourself a Bluetooth adapted handset to connect to your ugly little silver box of flashing lights. These handsets communicate directly with your mobile if you don’t have Bluetooth you can get an adapter cable to connect to your mobile.

So when you are on the train and you get a call from your personal stylist you can whip this hand set out and reply to all calls with elegance, style and wit.
