It wasn’t difficult because I already knew of one - CTRL - a cool and colourful clothing company from Helsinki, Finland. What I didn’t know however was what CTRL stood for. So I caught up with their main man Freeman to talk about clothes, reptiles and time-travel.

Anonymous design collective Sentimental Soycheese creates a “Skate or Die” inspired shirt (Pictured above)with a decidedly Beautiful/Decay spin. An excerpt from their quirky artist’s bio reads: “Sentimental Soy Cheese is the collective moniker of 2 former regular human beings whose true identities may never be known. Their peculiar pseudonym came about due to a very emotional period of time when, after being lost in the wilderness for several days and having nothing but unusually large amounts of soy cheese as sustenance.”

Josh Clancy, aka ToothJuice, crafts “Melting Hearts,” an imaginiative elaboration on human anatomy (pictured above), combined with elegant design elements. Josh has worked with clients such as Disney/Hollywood Records, Virgin Records, Payless Shoes, Fearless Records, and many other companies and Brands.

Beautiful/Decay has transcended the page and grown organically to encompass a number of creative projects. The apparel line began with just four T-shirts as a way to further support and collaborate with the artists and designers featured in thier pages. Rather than hiding artists’ works behind “branding” or “marketing” ploys, they proudly showcase their unfiltered, unedited voices and visions.

The Kick-HoHs referred to on two of the new t-shirt designs are the highly coveted Kick-Hi boots by House of Holland that were first seen in February on the Fashion East catwalk at London Fashion Week.

Since the show a limited number of the acid bright boots have been on sale at London’s Dover Street Market and have been snapped up by Daisy Lowe and supermodel Agyness Dean (who chose them as her favourite item in her wardrobe during a recent interview with British Vogue).
