Sneakers - Strictly Fashion
German based sportswear company PUMA and British Designer Alexander McQueen bring their Footwear collaboration in the second round, manifestated through a special Logo which spins the bow between high fashion and atheltics-wear.
Photographer Nick Knight and Alexander McQueen developed the scary looking, skinless man-cat with abdominals, pectorals, quads and biceps of a man in the form of a cat within an intensive two month period.
"We came up with the idea of a man-cat, almost a bit kitsch, a bit like the idea of a werewolf, like a fifties Hollywood movie type thing“ says Nick Knight about the concept stage of the Logodesign.
He and Lee (Alexander McQueen) already worked on a morphing project about ten years ago, when Debra Shaw and a Gazelle became one for a McQueen Show under the theme ‘It’s A Jungle Out There’. The concept of man and animal has always been a part of his work, the St. Martins graduate explains the merging of man and cat in this project.
In the end, though, I think the image itself is more beautiful than frightening.
The PUMA Alexander McQueen Fall 2006 collection totals 15 items and is inspired by Ta Moko, the tattoo art of the Maoris and symbols of Eastpolynesian mythology.
With the help of modern lasertechnology the leather sneakers got their special surface. The designer pieces are available in selected stores, be prepared to spend between190 and 240 Euro.
